Sola Guitarra
by Alfredo Lagos
Alone with his guitar...
It is a show where scenic austerity prevails, so scenery is unnecessary. No element should make the audience forget the real intention of the show: to spend an hour listening to guitar playing without additional scenic elements.
There is no percussion or clapping... no singing or dancing. Just Alfredo Lagos and his music. Three moments on stage, three movements and a single reflection. The show begins looking back on the old guitar masters, as respectfully as possible, and then it slowly moves on to contemporary guitar playing and even attempts to anticipate modern guitar styles.
“I believe that flamenco guitar deserves a prominent place on stage, a solo moment, and it should be able to hold the audience's attention without having to resort to secondary players, even if they are top secondary ones”.
ALFREDO LAGOS.
Every day I try to find my own way. Like almost all musicians who feel themselves truly committed to their profession.
I have always been aware of the music path I follow being flamenco, as it is the music I love the most; however, I do not want to, not even should, leave behind other points of view, other music styles, other sounds, after all. In this show, I want to tell other things. It is a love song to flamenco, and above all to flamenco guitar.
I want to recall great guitarists, whom I have listened to since I was a child, whom I humbly try to make an approach to and give my point of view. With my soul in my fingers... and in the tuning pegs.
